What a very crappy start to June!
Man what a ruff month this has been so far, nothing but a battle the whole way! I have suffered in two area’s this month that I was hoping I would not have to suffer from for a very long time or until I got some more experience under my belt.
Here is what went down!
First Problem, as you know I build affiliate based websites around certain cpa offers. Most of my sites get a small amount of leads per month, but there is one advertiser I have sites built for who’s offers are very popular and get a ton of searches for each month – and that is where my sites grab the suffers and I make money. The problem I had this month was, that advertiser lost his ability to process credit cards so he had to pull down all of his sites. It was close to 20 or so offers I had sites built that went dead in the matter of a 24 hour period. This all happened on June 1st!
Thankfully I have a ton of sites live right now so it only worked out to be about 50% of my income that was lost. The sites I have built around this one advertisers offers are my oldest sites and my strongest sites, but at least I was smart enough to keep pushing myself harder so when this did happen, my whole income wasn’t gone completely. The offers are coming back online as I right this post so by early next week, I should be back to the norm. I don’t think right now my goal for 15k for this month is going to be reached, that is to much of a hit to try and recover from with just over 2 weeks left in the month.
Some people might say that building a site around just one offer is a bad thing to do, but from my stand point, I get the sites parked on page one of Google with in a day – a generic site can take months if not years to get onto page one. The way I do it I get faster results – in a very competive niche.
Problem 2, happened just today actually. I have known for about a year that my Acer Laptop was a pill of crap. I was always having issues with it, to the point of at least one day I week I had to complete a bunch of system scans and upgrades to keep it running. It was a small laptop that was not made to do what I need a laptop to do.
This morning I went down stairs and tried to get to work, and for no love or money was I able to get online. Everything was an issue! So after having the first 10 days of June being very low income wise, I had no patience for a laptop that ended up taking 6 hours to clean up just so I could work. I could’t even check my emails for peaks sake.
So with that happening today, I decided it was time (I needed to do this months ago actually) to head on over to Best Buy and get my Macbook Pro. $3700.00 later I walked through my front door with a new 15.4 Macbook Pro (they didn’t have any 17inch ones in stock and I needed something NOW) along with a new Mac Router, wireless Mac Mouse and Keyboard. This post is the first bit of content my new Mac is putting out – cool eh!
In closing, not only have I lost 50% of my income from the one advertiser, but I have also had to drop a ton of cash up grading my home office equipment. Not a great June! Worst is, I can’t even say that we have had good weather where I live, its the coldest June I have ever seen. LOL
So I guess we shall see how I recover from all this, and I will be keeping my figures crossed that I can at least hit 10k, but I think that is even going to be cutting close.

Cold June and it’s summer. At least its winter here and we had our first zero (0 degrees centigrade) and a decent frost to go with it. As to the Mac – you knew it was coming and now you have it – you can get twice the work done in half the time
– better not keep writing – it will keep you away from work
have a great weekend (it’s Friday afternoon right now)

That really sucks about the advertiser…. but you had your eggs in multiple baskets so good for you.
As for the mac, great that you came over
…. If you had a router already you really didn’t need the mac router and if they mis-sold it to you i’d have a word
ReplyWell 50% is a lot of income to go down. But not your fault really.
ReplyYa it could of been alot worse Fas!
ReplyOnly $7500 this month. That’s more than many make in a year, so I think you’ll be all right. :O) I haven’t been able to put much work into my sites for quite some time. Personal sales have been extremely high plus I’m a contract programmer. Still very grateful that expenses and living are taken care of. I know many people are struggling. Sounds like you need a little more diversification though. So keep it up. Mac, yuck! :O)
cd :O)

ReplyMacs are not that bad, at least I never have to worry about viruses or spyware effecting my comp or ever having to pay for a anti-virus program again.
Hey Collin! I am sorry to hear about your woes, but I feel the MacBook will give you so much pleasure that all will be forgotten soon(ish). When will your sites come online again?
Replywell, to encourage you, your Macbook will make you soon forget about the sum that you payed for it. That’s what happened to me
ReplyNice that you’ve joined us Mac users
Sorry to hear you lost out on some income but at least those sites are old enough to keep their rankings so as the advertiser comes back online so will your sites’ links.
