Are you a Greedy blogger?

“Greedy Blogger”

Today’s post is dedicated to all the greedy bloggers that are out there who do not seem to care at all about the well being of others and what impact there information may have on there readers by not giving all the facts when they recommend a new affiliate programs to them.

I find it extremely funny how after almost 6 months of people losing there page rank with Google for using affiliate programs to make money online that they deem to be breaking the Google rules ( Text Link Ads, ReviewMe, PayPerPost) that these programs are still being promoted with out any warnings to the readers stating they are going to lose there page rank if you use them and make less money. Blogging has almost become a “blog at your own risk” type of institute where you really do not know if what affiliate program you are signing up for if it is going to leave you out in the cold and broke.

Value your page rank!

Even though there has been a lot of debate on the Internet about how valued the Google page rank should be it is still a force that continues to dominate the making money online business and how much you can make off of your blogs. Here is a small example of how much money you are losing as a result of a lose of page rank.

PR 0 site – 125×125 ad spots sell for around $10.00 or so

pr 5 site – 125×125 ad spots sell for around $50.00 or so

PR 0 review – $20 to $40

PR 5 review – $100 to $400

Big difference eh!

So by losing your page rank because you decided to sell text links from Text Link Ads or you decided to complete reviews from ReviewMe or PayPerPost ( who oddly enough base there prices you get paid around your friggen page rank, which you are going to lose as a result of using there services ) you might have cost yourself thousands of dollars. I learnt the hard way by signing up for these very same affiliate programs above and lost my page rank as a result which cost me money on one of my other blogs. Now the fight I have to try and get my rank back up is going to be a long one not to mention the hours I am going to have to spend rebuilding that site.

Respect your readers!

If you are happy having a blog with no page rank and making a few hundred dollars a month then great, but if you value your readers in anyway tell them before they sing up for a program what the risks can be to them. There is no way that after Google hitting sites for selling paid reviews from PayPerPost or ReviewMe or selling text links from TLA that you do not know about the ramifications it is going to have on those bloggers and there sites that they may be busting there asses on trying to build it to a point where they can make money online. The reason why these programs are still in use and are still being promoted is the fact there is a high affiliate commission paid out for referrals. PayPerPost alone pays out$15.00 per referral. So when you have a blog, that has 5000 readers with 20,000 unique visitors a month, well you do the math!

The point of this post!

If you are going to promote a product to your readers, tell them everything about the company or product or the program, do all of your job not just part of it and if you are not sure then just recommend to your readers to have a look and judge for themselves.

Our blog got blasted down by Google from a pr of 4 to a pr of 0 but, as long as we have our readers, we don’t mind that much, but PayPerPos etc should give warnings that Google will punish you for using their services..

Is it only when you use blogger does Google punish you for using PPP? Or does Google do this even when you also have your own domain name independent of blogger.

Amen brother! man this irks me like you wouldn’t believe. Especially on “well respected” blogs.

Btw, you may wanna double check some of your anger words in posts. Some won’t mind but some sure will.

Example: “Friggen” would be a better choice ;)

First, glad you changed that ‘WORD’ before I got here today. We are intelligent enough to find better words to use. I usually stop reading at that point and go to another post. I hear enough crap from my guitar friends. :)

On a positive note. Great and informative post.

This may be a dumb question, but isn’t having paid posts on your site acceptable as long as you use NoFollow?

@ James, yes paid reviews are ok with the no follow tag but with ReveiwMe and PayPerPost your not allowed to use that tag and they have a tracking code you use as well which also points to Google that you used them.
