Well this is something I was not expecting to see on CNN and that’s how Twitter has played a major part in getting US residents to vote today. It would seem that there is a lot of people who communicate with each other through Twitter and are all supporting each other to get out and vote.
Twitter has become just as big as Facebook in some circles because of the fact of how users can communicate with each other fast and no matter where they are. Of coarse the topic of the day for most Twitter users has been who they are going to vote for, but for most of us it is a tool to drive traffic to our blogs.
It goes to show you how powerful tools have become that are created for bloggers or at least released to the blog sphere. We like to be able to communicate as fast as we can with either our readers or friends and the word is out now that Twitter has become more then just a blogging tool. It’s a global communication tool!
I am hoping all goes well with the US election today and congrats to the creators of Twitter for making and building a tool that has helped so many people keep in touch during this time when everyone needs to be heard.

Hi Colin
I also think it goes to show how switched on to the internet people are. The last election probably on had half or less the number of people on line. I read one report that said that every family that had a computer in the home accessed the internet at least once a day. Four years ago they were saying that only half of computer owners had any form of internet access – now its more like 90%. Online is the place to be!

I was certainly surprised to hear Twitter mentioned on CNN. I was, however, pleased with the way in which Twitter seemed to grow during the election process. Tweets began to sound less like simple status updates–which are always welcome–and more like an open-forum for political discussion. I wonder if that’s what the creators of Twitter were hoping for.

Hey Rebecca, thanks for coming by! Ya I wander if that was there plan when they built it, regardless I am sure they will be growing at a good pace now.
Just so you know, you are now entered in my comment contest which would be really funny to see if you win a Neverblue Ads prize…..lol
ReplyHi Collin, Twitter is something I am seriously looking into. The name implies triviality, so perhaps puts some off at first, but the great thing about blogs is their interactivity.
