How do you check for backlinks to your site?

With all the different back link checkers that are out there it makes me wander which ones people use and how accurate they seem to be.

Myself I use 2 different tools I have to check for backlinks. The first is my SEO tool called Market Samurai which I am able to test every site to see where it stands for backlinks. To cover all the bases I also use the SEO plug in extension for Fire Fox which I think works great. As your Googling to can check up on your competition and see hows things are going.

Market Samurai and the SEO plug in for FireFox are with in 100 links of each other for this site, Feed Flare, which I found to be fairly accurate. Other tools I have used or tested lately were way off so it tells me they don’t pick up every type of link.

Which do you use to check you backlinks or do you think there is no really way to check them.

Well it is time for me to introduce to everyone a new Web 2.0 social networking site that is based around free backlinks and website and article promotions that is completely Do-Follow and that site is Link Adore.

Link Adore dot com was founded by, you guessed it, Me and with only one purpose in mind and that is to help everyone get free backlinks to there websites and articles with out you being looked at like a spammer. It is hard enough at the best of times to try and get free backlinks to your articles or websites with out being looked at like a spammer so I just figured why not help everyone out to reach there goals sooner then later and build a site for them.

There is still a lot of work I need to do to Link Adore to make it a bit more flashy (I like colorful websites) and to insure everything like even the comments are do follow and except html tags but for the most part it looks to me after about a week of trying to learn a new system that everything is ready to go.

One thing you will notice when you go over to the site is it has a page rank of 0. I sure hope you are a lot smarter then most people and realize that any and all links serve value if your trying to get a higher position in Google. I have read on so many blogs where people state that they only want PR5 or better links for there websites or articles and I think they are just being stupid. A link is a link is a link, and if you get a link from a PR0 site you have to keep in mind that in six months that link might be a PR6 (depending on the webmaster and how many links they build up to it) so if you have a chance to get a link, for free, you should take it.

There should more more of these types of sites around in my opinion and I hope others do the same thing that I have done and give something back to there community.

Building websites can be fun if you have the right tools to do it for you, or work along side with!

I remember when I started this blog I was working day in and day out trying to get it ranked and get traffic to it. I did ok at it I guess. I wish I new then what I know now, this site might be a totally different environment.

As it stands I have three affiliate sites I am building up. One of them hit number one for term searches in Google in under a week. Now I am working on the two bigger ones, but thankfully to a friend of mine who introduced me to a new tool called Autopligg submitter I think I will be able to get those other sites sites ranked in record time.

Autopligg submitter is a link building and traffic growing tool. How it works is you build random accounts on pligg sites (A pligg site is a Digg clone), submit a story to them, and then comment with a link. Sounds like it could be a lot of work right, nope, Autopligg submitter does this all for you, including registering you for all these accounts. All you have to do is fill in your comment or story fields and click submit then go to bed. Everything else takes care of its self though Autopligg.

Why was this tool built?

Autopligg was built because of the fact Pligg sites are open source. If something is open source you are able to build links back to your sites and articles just by submitting to them. Its kind of like the top commentator widgets that give out links to the top commentators on your blogs. Pligg sites give out links to whom ever. If you wandering how many Pligg sites are active I can tell you its allot. Autopligg submitter has over 5000 sites listed that you can build links to and submit stories too and thats just barely breaking the ice.

Myself, I love this tool now that I have it up and running. Its a big program that gets installed on your server and with me not being very good with that stuff I had to tie up a support guy in live chat for about 3 hours because I screwed it all up. Thank God that support chat was free!

Bottom line guys, if your building any type of affiliate site or even your blog you know as well as I know you need links to get it ranked and keep it ranked. Autopligg Submitter is the best and only way to do it with any type of power. And like my new motto is, why work on one site when you can work on 4 sites at the same time in the same amount of time.

“blogroll link exchange”

Watch today’s video or read the post below!

Its time to kick up community involvement a bit by starting up my first blogroll link exchange program. I am going to make things very easy for everyone who wants to join this program too. All you have to do to get a blogroll link from Feed Flare is to leave a comment below saying that you want to exchange links, leave your link and anchor text and it is done.

Here is my anchor text and link

Make Money Video Blogging

Once I see that my link is in your blogroll and you have left your link in the comment section after this post I will add you back. Please feel free to ask anyone else if they are interested in exchanging links as well, it does not only have to be between you and I and of coarse this is totally free for everyone.

What is the benefit of exchanging links?

Well in my case I have a Google page rank of 4, which will help out your blog that will then cause you to get more free traffic from Google as your rank increases. Don’t think for a second if your not a pr4 blog that I don’t want your link, I do! All links back to a site are good in my opinion and should be looked at with respect. If your blog is a pr1 right now, six months from now it could be a 6 which will then carry more weight, that’s how I look at it and why I like all links.

Pick the right anchor text!

Exchanging blogroll links is a great way to insure your search engine safety for a certain search term by building up links to that term through this blogroll link exchange program. I want to have more authority for the term make money video blogging so to do so I need more links pointing at my site for that term. If there is a term you want to have more authority for make sure you leave a comment with the right term or keyword phrase as some would like to call it.

Ok so lets get started, leave your comment with your link and lets build our sites today!

Since I have started posting video’s on this site I have found some very interesting links pointing back to Feed Flare. The one I have posted about before was from AOL Online but a few I have seen lately are from MyBlogLog.

I will admit I do not spend much time networking with in the MyBlogLog Community and maybe I should start, as I do not know fully how there system works or how I could get a link from them back to this site. Is it a user linking to me or is it the actual site and its administrators linking to me. I have never had a link point back to me from a social site before in this way. I have had the profile links, heck we all get those but a link back to a post or video I have never heard of or seen before.

I have how ever noticed a huge amount of MyBlogLog users adding me to there friends lists, and what I mean by huge is over 100 people have added me to there friends list in under 2 weeks. Again for not being really active with in MyBlogLog this comes as a shock to me, but I still like it

Link building is a time consuming job, there’s no doubt about it so when you get links coming to you from a certain post or from a massive site you can’t help but feel good. I almost like that feeling more then when I see I have a increase in feed subscribers. So many people put focus on content as being the biggest thing to help increase your blog, so when you write something or make a video about something that gets attention other then a few comments then I guess you can say your on the right track.

Oh BTW, I have been supper busy off line since I have got back from Vegas and I have not been posting many video’s. I will get back to this shortly as I am almost done what I was working on. I had some yard work and deck refinishing to do which will be posted on Toolbelt Tips hopefully next week.

Building relevant back links using Wiki pages is a great way to control some of the links your site is going to pick up as it grows. You have great control using this method of link building as you are in full control of how the link is built. One of the nicest things I have found is while your building your Wiki page, you can add as many links as you want back to your site and target all your keyword phrases you use in your blog and that you want to get ranked better for in the search engines.

There are many free Wiki sites around that allow you to create a page in them that is focused on your site and it’s content. You can also add a small site description to other pages as well within the Wiki community that are relevant. What I mean by that is, if there are 100 Wiki pages that all have the tag line of “making money online” and your site follows that tag line you can add your site description and a link back to your site into those pages as well. Now you have just spent about 2 hours of your time or less if you have all your information ready to go and use a copy and paste method to add your information to which ever pages are relevant to you’re sites content (hint hint) and you will have built up some great free links back to your site.

There is also some Wiki sites out there like the “One Buck Wiki” where you have to by a page. These are great to have as well because no one other then you can edit that page. Once you own it, you own it for life and you can place what ever links you want in the page. You can even use your page as a contest prize ( Win a free link from my Wiki page ) type of thing. What I like about some paid Wiki sites is the value of the pages can some times increase over time as the site fills up. The “One Buck Wiki” site started off selling the pages at 1 buck, but when it hit 1000 pages sold the price increased to 10 bucks per page. Right now there selling for 20 bucks a page because they are hitting there 2000 pages sold mark. When the site hits around 5000 pages sold your page is going to be worth about 100 bucks or so which you can easily sell using a popular forum like Digital point. As Wiki sites grow, so does there page rank, which increases the value of that link to you.

Here are some links to some of the Wiki sites I have created a page in.

Site Hoppin

ZOHO

Wikectory

About Us

That is just a small list of what is really out there. There is literally hundreds, if not thousands of Wiki sites that you can join and some really have a great page rank. I would suggest to you to take some time over the next week and create some Wiki pages for your site, just remember though to make sure you put your content into relevant category’s or else the link might hurt you instead of helping you.

One last thing, do not go and buy a One Buck Wiki page today, come back for my March Contest as I have a little surprise for ya.

For those of you who have not read the post I made titled ” Feed Flare hits page one in Google searches ” I urge you to read it after reading this post as the two tie into each other.

Currently Feed Flare has a Technorati rank of 199k after only being a live site for around a month. Our current fan base is sitting at 30 fans which is low but understandable for the age of this site. So how do we have such a high Technorati rank with so few fans? That is simple, I comment on blogs that reward there top commentators. What happens is when you hit the top commentators box that counts as a blog reaction back to your site, even when the blogs owner doesn’t even know who you are.

Here is a simple screen shot from Feed Flares blog reactions page on Technorati.

The picture shows blog reactions to my site but most of them are from the top commentators section of the site. All those reactions actually count as a link back to my site, and those links are from sites that have great PR with Google. Those links back to my site are worth a lot and all I had to do to get them was leave a meaningful comment. That means I read the post before I comment, I never spam someones site.

So how does that increase placement in the Google searches.

Well if you read the above post I mentioned, the second screen shot in that post is of Feed Flare hitting page one for our keyword “feedflare” and it shows up as a result of blog reactions from Technorati. Cool Eh! So not only has commenting increased my Technorati rank, but it has helped me place better in the Google searches for my primary keyword I use.

Not all sites reward there top commentators.

Oddly enough Pro Blogger does not reward his top commentators, which probably explains why with him having over 40,000 RSS readers he only averages around 100 comments per post or less. I emailed Darren about that and his response was it increases spam. Well I guess in some ways it would but like most other people I watch my spam and delete anything that looks like it so for me that is not a problem.

Here is a list of a few sites that I comment on where you get rewarded for being a top commentator.

Shoemoney

John Chow

Mixed Market Arts

Winning The Web

The Ratings Blog

That’s just a small list, there is literately hundreds if not thousands of blogs that offer this kind of reward system including Feed Flare, so with that being said, go out there and make some comments.

One last thing, don’t worry if the site has no rank yet, some sites have great content and will move up the PR system as time goes on. When they do that link becomes worth more to you so it is kind of like investing in your future by investing in there’s.

If you liked this post then why not add us to your Technorati Favs by clicking here. In a future post I will discuss how you can make a lot of money with a top 10k Technorati ranked site so you might want to consider subscribing to our full feed RSS after leaving your comment.

Getting bloggers or other websites to link to your site takes a long time to achieve. It can be hard enough sometimes to get people to subscribe to your RSS feeds so getting links back just seems impossible even if your content is top notch.

If your up for taking your link building into your own hands here are a few blog directories where you can gain some exposure for your site as well as gain some high quality links back to your sites for free.

Top Blog Area

Blog Ranking

My Blog Directory

Blog Hub

Link Referral

Blogaramma

BlogShowOff

BlogTopList

This list will be updated regularly as more blog directories are found and joined by Feed Flare. Make sure you subscribe to our RSS feed by email to have updates delivered right to your inbox by clicking <a href="http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailverifySubmit?feedId=1581446&loc=en_US"">here.

Most of these blog directories will require you to provide a link back to there site. If you look in my sidebar under the heading of “My Communities” you will see what is required. If you do not want to display the buttons on your home page then by all means have a page dedicated in your site just for link displaying.

If you found this list helpful please check out our RSS directories list we completed a few weeks ago by clicking here.

Do you have a name for a directory that is not listed here, if so please tell us so we can add that site to our list. We will also provide a link back to your site as credit for the submission.
