A point of observation!

Posted on February 21st, 2008 by Collin in Feed Flare

Just a point of observation that I made that I wanted to share really quick with you.

Feedburner has posted there first new post in close to 8 months today. There is really nothing fancy that they talked about just what they have been working on and why they have not been posting as much as they were, well not posting at all. And yes it was blamed on the Google take over of there company.

You can view there post by clicking on this link.

What I did however notice while surfing the net today is that everyone’s reader counts have dropped a lot, including mine. John Chow dot com was sitting at 16k in readers yesterday and today he is at 10K.

Funny how Feedburner make s there first post in months and everyone’s reader counts drop, I wander why that is?. I have how ever seen this before and it is just a small problem so don’t think you lost all your readers. Your reader counts should be back to normal tomorrow or the next day.

The last time this happened it was just a indexing issue where certain area’s of your subscriptions where not counted for that particular day. DON’T think you lost all your readers as they will be back.

Did you lose as many as John Chow did?

I didn’t lost anyone ( I haven’t subscribes), but I thank you for the explanation.
It was good to hear not the complaints, but the explanation of the situation.
Your attitude towards the life is the precious gift to us. Thank you once more.

Thank god, I thought it was something I was, or wasn’t doing!! My reader count, though not that big, dropped quite a bit.

Yes, I’ve lost subscribers on all my blogs. In fact, it is the same story as last time it happened: Google Reader subscribers were not reported.

I didn’t notice anything special on this occassion, but overall in 2008, it seems less people are visiting blogs and leaving comments. Maybe we have lost our readers because they’ve all gone to creating blogs. I’d like to know how to find devoted readers who leave comments rather than the browser who clicks off your blog before staying to view it.

    Hey Rebecca,

Here is what I think is going on. Over the coarse of 2007 (and we can thank guys like John Chow and Shoemoney for this)a lot of people have learned how to use wordpress. They all want the big money like the pro’s but have found it better to create 100 (example) blogs and earn 1 buck a day then to try and earn 100 a day with 1 blog. So that is what is going on from what I can tell, people are just to busy managing there sites a content to comment.
