Feed Flare weekend updates.
Hey everyone!
I just wanted to take a few minuets to let you know of a few things that are going on here at Feed Flare and what my plans are for the site.
One thing I have noticed over the past few months is that my traffic always seems to be the lowest on the weekends. You would think there would be more surfers during the weekends as there is more time to do it but that does not seem to be the case. So with that I have decided to make posting on the weekends optional for me. If there is no one around to read the posts I am going to use that time then to network and plan out my weekly posts better, and do my rounds for commenting on other blogs. One part of my time management program I am working on is to free up time that just seems to be wasted and it appears that the weekends are my first place to start.
If you are going to treat your blog like a business or a job then you have to look at it from all angles if you are trying to be productive. I am not saying that I will never post on the weekends ever again but I just wanted to let everyone know that you may not see anything new. That does not mean I am not around though. There are still things I want to work on for the site that time does not allow me to do during the week, and the weekends are a great way for me to gain extra time for smaller projects.
This extra time may turn out to be a great for me to complete a lot of editing on videos I am working on as well as working on my first ebook and getting the ball rolling in that department.
So let me ask you this, have you noticed a drop in traffic on the weekends or is it just me?

I’d say weekends are probably slow for most, except possibly e-commerce (physical product) sites.

ReplyHappy Easter Collin. You may not have gotten you easter eggs yet unless the Easter bunny got to your before getting here.
I have him cleaning all the dirty little foot prints he thought he could just leave behind.
I have started taking the weekends of from creating posts. If I want a post to appear on the weekend I prepare them ahead of time and then time-stamp them so they appear while I am off fishin’ or out guitar jammin’.
If the weather is not co-operating I use the weekends for social networking and for creating new graphics for headers and post images.
I spent most of my business career as a workaholic and my health has really paid the price. And even when I started my online business I didn’t change. It was 7 days a week.
I started taking the weekends off and noticed that I still got every thing done that needed to be done in just 5 days.
It’s nice to give the ole brain a rest and spend some time outside my office.
I have an ebook I have been working on for months but it’s hardly started, maybe it will be ready by the next fishing season.

ReplyHappy Easter to you and your family. I hope it is a quiet but happy weekend – not quiet when it comes to blog visitors though.
I have to agree with you – I really get a big drop off in visitors from Friday afternoon through to Monday morning. I have a feeling a lot of people spend some of their time at work visiting and reading blogs.
I get most of my traffic during the US 9-5 period.
cheers

ReplyHi Collin. I found you through My Radical Blogger..
Yes, my traffic drops on the weekends too. I think there are probably a lot of fellow bloggers that are either drinking and partying, spending time catching up with family, or just getting chores done that had to be avoided by the week. Maybe even all of the above.
I have stopped posting on the weekend myself. If I do anything it may be a humor post or something.
