Would you Hire a Article Writer?

Posted on January 11th, 2009 by Collin in Feed Flare

Over the past few months my article writing needs have increased dramatically. I have over 40 sites that I own right now with only half of them built with good content on them and are accepting traffic.

Even though my grammar skills are not the best and sometimes I don’t catch mis-spelled words (which is odd because I have two different spell checkers going) I personally feel my writing skills are way better then most article writers that are out there. Let me explain!

To my understanding most article writers you can hire for cheap from places like eLance are mostly from different countries who’s primary language is not English. When I have a new site to build I use a tool I have called Market Samurai to find keyword related articles online. It’s mostly how I do my topic research.

What this tool does is it searches through the most popular article directories and brings back a list of articles that are related to your search. Makes it very easy and fast to find content – seconds really!

In a lot of cases all I have to do (if I wanted to) is just re-write most of the articles and put them into better English and I am done – a unique article made.

What dose this tell me?

What that tells me is most of the content writers or article writers that are out there are not worth much at all. If you have to pay someone to write an article for you and it is not in proper English – then they are not worth what you are paying them to do.

If content is King don’t you think the King of your own country you live in (or the targeted country you are promoting offers in) should be able to understand the article?

Hi Colin – These days most of my income comes from article writing for other people. At around $25 per article of 3-500 words it’s good income for me and they get a good article in fairly good English. The problem is, many people want articles for less than $5 – for that you will get a 5 minute article that is just thrown together. I wouldn’t mind checking the marketing samurai – sounds interesting. Content is important. Many people buy the PLR packages and rewrite them. Buy the time you rewrite some of them, you might as well have written the whole article yourself. 40 sites is tough to keep up with though.

    cheers

Hey Les – I know you write articles and I thought of you when I wrote this post too…lol….but I also know you are a quality man.

Here is the link to Market Samurai – http://www.marketsamurai.com/ There is a 14 day trial for it and f you have any question just ask me. I have the paid version and just to give you a heads up it is not fully built yet so I am not sure if the money they want for it is worth it yet.

You decide but at least the trial will show you what it can all do so far.

I think the cheap writers have their uses…. I create websites to sell and when I am trying to churn them out fast I have purchased the articles. I give the writers keywords, titles and any other small details and so far have been happy with most of the results. If you buy bulk articles through companies you can always reject the articles.

But you are right in saying that my own articles are probably of more worth…. Sadly there is only one of me and time is a factor in the equation.

I think its better to write less but one should write it themselves then to hire someone else.

I fully understand what your saying about time being an issue Forest. If your looking for good, original articles for any sites you should try the Unique Article Wizard plug in for wordpress. Every article is 100% original :) and they are all free.

I’ve had great success using a copywriter. Like any other business – there are professionals and pretenders. I hate to throw around so many cliches, but it is also true that you get what you pay for.

Copywriting is both an art and a science, and the professional copywriters know how to turn tire-kickers into buyers.

As as a marketer, my specialty is to drive qualified traffic to the offer. If I’m running a lot of copy on my landing page, I let a professional handle the writing.

I can specifically recommend Jen Rotman, who specializes in writing sales conversion copy, as well as other types of copywriting. She is a true professional and delivers quality copy that has increased my conversions 79%.

She’s a master of turning readers into buyers.

Buyers build my bank account; I’m not running a library…

Check out her blog at http://jrotman.wordpress.com . I think she’s got a link to her eLance profile and portfolio. If not, drop her an email to check out her work.

    @Collin:

Does unique Article wizard produce acceptable results? Where can I find some examples of it’s work?… I guess it cleverly rewrites articles it find on web?

No – its nothing like that. Unique article wizard is a article submission service. People like me write articles and they get mixed up. You have to write the article 3 times then the wizard takes the paragraphs and mixes then around to make each article unique.

To can see a sample of some articles on my insurance site. http://sleepbetterinsurance.com – only the first article is mine – the rest are from the article wizard.

I’ve hired writers on several occasions. We also run an Article Submission Service at ArticleSender.com. It works wonders.

Thanks for that link Colin. I have contacted them and they seem to know exactly what they are doing. Hiring an article writer can save time but might not be of high quality as I have noticed.

I agree that the quality might not be as good as writing my own. In most cases, I need to put finishing touch up for each article that I outsource. However, outsourcing by hiring article writers saves a considerable amount of time which I can put into better use.
