Standing out from the crowd with the right RSS buttons!
I have noticed a lot of blogs use just what Feedburner gives you when you sign up and register your feed with them and I have often wandered why that was, there buttons are so boring. Well maybe it is a fact that they can’t find the right button or know how to add there feed link into certain images. Today I am going to show you a few buttons which can all be found on my Free Buttons page here at Feed Flare and in a later post tell you how to link them to your feed links.
What kind of buttons are out there.
Well there are hundreds if not thousand of RSS feed buttons you can get for your blog and yes they come in all shapes and sizes and colors as you will see when you visit my free buttons page. Having the right buttons displayed on your site can attract people to it and make them sign up for your feed simply because it was easy to find and it stood out. This button to the left is one of my favorites. Unfortunately I can not get it to work in this theme but I will try and to get it to work in my alt site and yes you can grab it from my free buttons page.
Placement of your buttons is another really big issue I have noticed where people have there buttons way down in there sidebar, usually below the fold and that makes it hard to find. This could be another reason why you don’t get as many subscribers as you want or are looking for. It is not that your content is no good, viewers can’t find where to sign up.
There are even some really great email subscription buttons you can display as well. The one I use on this site I had made by a graphic designer to match my RSS button but here is an example of another type you can display. One thing you need to keep in mind when choosing the buttons for your site is that they should match. Nothing looks worse then having buttons on display that look totally different from one another and don’t flow with your sites theme. All graphic designers are capable of matching colors on buttons, all you have to do is send them the two your want to use and they can get them all fixed up, usually fairly cheap too.
So while your about and about today doing your daily rounds on your favorite blogs pay attention to the location of there buttons. Any of the bigger blogs, or blogs that are more well known then others you will see where there buttons are and the fact that they all match with there sites but still stand out and are able to be found fast.
If you are unsure about how to link a image with your feeds link, I will post on how to do that in great detail later this week. So with that all said maybe head on over to our new page simply called “Free Buttons” and have a look what is available to you and your sites. We have over 100 buttons on display on that page of all shapes and sizes. Please remember to check back once and a while to view any updates on that page because as I find more useful buttons, they will get listed among the other ones that will be free for you to grab. All you have to do is a copy and paste things or save target as.
