Responsibility is a two way street!
There are two types of affiliate marketers. There are the ones who try there hardest like me to promote offers using facts. And then there are affiliate marketers who down and out lie about what a product can do. This is a very common problem in the weight loss supplement industry.
My question to you is – why do affiliate networks allow affiliates to promote offers in bad faith. As an affiliate marketer we are told by networks that we have a very strict terms and conditions policy we have to follow or else we can not promote the offers from the network. It seems to me though, that those terms and conditions only apply to certain affiliates.
If you are able to drive 1000 plus leads to an offer (or higher in some cases) it would appear that you are able to get a way with murder, lying, cheating and steeling as long as you are bringing in the leads.
There are a lot of affiliates who will not touch diet offers with a ten foot pole because they don’t agree with the autoship programs they carry for the end user. “WhatEver” is what I say to that – if these companies want to do that to there clients – that’s there business – not mine. Online shoppers should be well aware of this trick by now and if they fall for it, there is nothing I can do for them.
The problem I am having is – why do affiliate networks allow shitty ass affiliates to keep promoting offers knowing full well that the affiliate is lying and making hugely false claims about what an offer can do – just to get leads. I am referring to the “FLOGS” ( fake blogs ) that are being used to promote diet supplements.
If there are terms and conditions in place they need to apply to all affiliates and if one affiliate is driving 5k leads a day to an offer the affiliate network has a responsibility as well to make sure offers are being promoted properly. Doing so will not only increase the longevity of the offers as well as allow affiliates to build proper businesses around a niche.
In my opinion, these affiliates that promote offers by down and out lying should be removed from the industry all together. There honestly no different then spammers – just spammers with money. They hurt the entire industry but go unpunished because they make networks millions per month.
In closing!
If affiliate networks want us to be responsible – you need to be as well!!!

It’s the same difference between reputable reseller stores and back alley traders I guess…. I agree they should be accountable for what they are doing and who they are conning.
ReplyHi Collin, it sounds like the same thing is bothering the both of us. I wrote a similar post a couple days ago. I think the answer is simple greed combined with a lack of integrity.
I blame the affiliate programs more than the lieing low lives promoting the junk. It’s like the idiot going to the front of the traffic backup in his car to cut in front of everyone. That driver is wrong but I really have a big problem with the jerk that let him in.
ReplyYa I am getting tired of certain people killing it for the rest of us.
ReplyThanks Forest
ReplyOffering info about products which don’t really give the user that is not in my ethics and is not a good thing to be done, that money is not worth it.

They are killing it for themselves too. It is a short term strategy. They will quickly burn out their credibility and never get repeat business.
