Media Buying Update – Week One Is Over With Some Interesting Results!

Posted on August 27th, 2009 by Collin in media buying

So a couple of days ago I posted my results for my first media buying campaign that I started running on Monday. Today I wanted to give you another small update on how things are going seeings how what I allowed for week one for my spending budget is gone.

Before I get to my media buying stats I wanted to say one thing first. What I am doing to restrict myself from going nuts and wasting money on media buying by over spending which is common in PPC is that I am using a secured credit card. There is a very small amount of a security deposit on the card which helps my spending control. (Cause it’s secured – there is no debt)

There is nothing worse to me then getting excited after a good day with a campaign and then dumping a bunch a money into it with out having all the right data or knowing fully what your doing. So for me, it’s better to take baby steps, plus I am sure my son would appreciate me thinking of his well being instead of my own greed.

Ok now to the money part of my 3rd and 4th day having a media buying campaign live.

Wednesday

  • Spend – $50.00
  • Earnings – &90.71 ($41.71 Profit)

I never really made any big changes on Wednesday to my landing page so everything stayed the same as Tuesday as far as profit goes. That’s about a 80% ROI if your wandering.

I did make some changes to my landing pageĀ  half way through the day after a few phone call conferences with a few affiliate networks. Here are the results of those changes.

Thursday

  • Spend – $50.00
  • Earnings – $272.14 ($222.14 Profit – that’s about a 300% ROI)

So as you can see, talking with a few people on the phone who have lots of experience with Media Buying, kind of helped a lot.

My goal with Media Buying was to be at 100% ROI before I started to up my daily spend on a campaign or landing page. As you can see, I am a bit above my goal.

What’s my next step?

Well, as per the phone calls yesterday there is still a few things I needed to change to the landing page that I want to try out but I have reloaded my credit card to handle a $100.00 daily spend next week. If things stay the same as today or very close, I am off to the races with a whole team of horses!

I am still going to inch my way up the Media Buying ladder until I am very comfortable with what I am doing, but after week one going this way – I can see myself at $1000.00 per day profit buy the end of September. Man I am looking forward to that! (and when that happens there will be a trip to Toronto for me and a few good parties to be had)

That is an awesome ROI, just goes to show that if you ask the right people the right questions it can really pay off.

For give the ignorance, but what is Media Buying? I thought it was just PPC, but sounds like it may be a little different.

    @CD Rates Blog:
Media Buying is a step above PPC. There is less comp but you normally spend a lot more money. There is way more traffic then the search engines in my opinion and your ROI can hit insane numbers really fast. I will do a post on it next week that should explain it in more detail.
