“Is Entrecard Dead”

Watch Today’s Video

Myself I have not noticed any type of buzz in the blogsphere regarding Entrecard in a long time. I will admit I have never really used there ad placing services much, maybe once or twice if that so I can’t say if they are good or bad but I can say that maybe if there is no buzz about them that the flash in their pan is gone.

I do think that today I am going to place a few ads with in the Entrecard system and see what kind of results I yield, and if I do not yield much at all then you can bet on the fact that I will be pulling there widget down.

What do you think, is Entrecard dead?

Far from it. In fact, you may find the following information useful:

1.) Entrecard members are placing more ads through our system than ever before.

2.) Entrecard members are earning more credits than ever before.

3.) New bloggers are signing up to Entrecard at a faster rate than ever before.

4.) The site is receiving the highest amount of daily traffic it ever has.

5.) We just completed a major partnership, which you’ll hear about soon.

I suppose it depends on your definition of “dead”.

Nope, alive and kickin and not goin anywhere but up.

Perhaps the initial thrill and the annoying blog posts every other day are gone, but other then that things are just fine from what I can see.

Check out their blog and forums, all quite alive.

I know I have regular advertisers on mine and regularly advertise on others as well as still meeting all kinds of cool people and their blogs. :-)

well, there was some noise with a recent change. in fact a lot of people got disappointed with the new credits system, and with the illusion of traffic that droppers generate

@ Graham – its great to hear that!

@ Dennis – I placed some ads to test that section of the site out. Well I placed around 20 or so I think….lol, so we shall see how things go.

I’ve found Entrecard to be very useful in starting up my blog. I must admit, from what I’ve seen, most traffic from Entrecard is from other users in the network, but there are still quite a bunch, and lets face it, not everyone that clicks on a blog necessarily is going to a life-long reader, inside or outside Entrecard. I definitly don’t think one should solely rely on Entrecard for exposure, but the same goes for ANY singular service.

Right on Reg, smart diversification in marketing strategies is vital.

“Smart” meaning, on the other hand if you have too many fingers in too many pies, you wont have the time to keep up with any….this is what makes a lot of people quit before they’ve had a real chance :)

    @ Dennis and Reg

If you look at John Chow and how he works his blog, he does not put any eggs in the same place and nor do I which means if I lost one source of traffic I still move on. It is best to have a 33% split between your traffic sources and use places like Entrecard as a bonus I would think. The real problem is getting the foundation built for a blog like in the RSS readers!

Well, the Entrecard website is certainly dead now. I’m not sure if it’s a planned outage or not.

Well it sure wasn’t planned, but not there fault either…you may find several of your faves down today.

Here’s an entrecard email we received this morning…

Unfortunately, there has been an electrical fire at the data center housing Entrecard’s servers. The servers have not been damaged, but the site may be down for as long as 12 hours.

Entrecard is hosted with ThePlanet, and this fire has effected over 9000 websites, as many of the world’s most popualar websites are hosted with ThePlanet. They are working around the clock to get their data center back online, and we are hoping that they get it back online fast.

Thank you for your pateince and understanding with this rare and frustrating problem. Unfortunately, there is absolutely nothing we can do but wait for The Planet to get their datacenter back online.

Please check back with Entrecard in 12 to 24 hours.

    Thanks,
    Entrecard Team

    OUCH.

    LOL

I never put all eggs in one basket…I also wont put 12 eggs in 12 baskets as i somewhat said above (I also pay absolutely no mind to John Chow lol).

I don’t use EC for traffic at all what comes, comes but it’s too high a bounce rate to waste time keeping track of…

I use it very successfully for networking…finding good people, blogs, commenting, chatting, etc.
