One reason why email subscriptions are better!

Posted on February 28th, 2008 by Collin in Plugins

It is no secret that email subscriptions to a sites RSS feed have been growing in popularity over the past six months. What you may not know is why. There are a few reasons for this and I will get into one of them right now.

To me the biggest reason why email subscriptions are becoming so popular is simply because you can treat those subscribers a bit differently then your other ones. Feedburner has some great tools which allow you to really spruce up what your emails look like. The have the ever popular Feed Flare service for all your social bookmarking needs as well as you can add your sites logo right into the email which helps to make your emails look way more professional. If your not sure how to add your sites logo to your email subscription service I will get into that with a post early next week so make sure you subscribe to my site by email because your not going to want to miss that post. All I can say for now is my subscription service by email has never looked better.

Another way you can spruce up for RSS by email service is with a great and easy to use plug in called Feed Footer. What this plug in does is it gives you the option of adding text or some HTML code that only your subscribers by email are going to see. You can add more content to your post this way to give them a different point of view, you can offer up some special gifts for commenting that you only want your best readers and most loyal fans to be a part of. You can also monetize your emails with what ever ad’s you want that you just don’t have room for on your site. One problem with email subscription services has always been the lack of ad response because people are a lot less likely to come to your site if they have read all your content all ready. With this great plug in, you can even make money and increase your revenue because your sending your favorite ads right to your favorite readers.

You can grab the Feed Footer plug in here.

It is a very easy plug in to use and your going to love it. If you are a subscriber of mine by email I am going to be putting in a little note that only you can read today, just to show you how it works so you can see for your self. I have a very exciting announcement I am going to be making today. If you have found this post helpful or insightful please feel free to leave a comment.

So, I suppose this is a wordpress plug in only? I wonder who would be smart enough to hack this into a blogger widget?

Yes it is for wordpress, what I would suggest doing is go to the site and contact the owner and ask him if there is a plug in for Blogger. Sorry about that, sometimes I forget there are other platforms other then Wordpress.

I am so glad I gave up on blogger.com for Wordpress on my own domains. Just so many more cool plugins to make my life better.

Confession time: I haven’t done anything with feeds by email so I better get my butt in gear and learn how to set it up.

I have downloaded this plugin for future use. Hopefully the future gets here sooner than later.

Excellent plugin Collin. I’ve often wondered how some feeds had that little extra underneath. ;)
