I guess there are a few different ways someone could look at advertising their blog or website. The one method I have really come to gain respect for is the 125×125 button ads you see everywhere these days. They are like a bunch of “mini billboards” on the road to success.
If you look at a 125×125 ad banner as a billboard you tend to start thinking a bit differently about “Internet advertising”. Think about if for a second, the reason why people use billboards in the first place is to mostly get there name out there. It your driving to work everyday and you take the same route and see the same billboard for an appliance repair company chances are 3 months down the road when your dryer craps out your going to remember that name and give that company a call.
Most everyone on the net wants to get those extra clicks when they place an ad on someones site. But what ends up happening is the regular readers to that site you have advertised on tend to get ad blindness and will hardly click on the ads, but they do read them I can promise you that. So you might not get the clicks you want to get but you will get your name, or your site into the minds of a lot of people. So if you have a service that people are looking for, or want to use, one day they just may end up at your door asking for help!
What do you think of the 125 x 125 ad buttons you see everywhere. Do you click on them and if so what draws you to them? I would like to know your thoughts on this.

I love ‘em. I’m hoping to get some on a new custom theme I just had done.

ReplyVery good article
ReplyI have to say that I really like the 125×125 blocks. They just fit in well and they are big enough to actually get something on the button.
I have tried smaller adblocks and just get frustrated trying to make them say something and not look pathetic but I could get them to look good so I dumped them for 125×125 ads.
