Well where should I begin? Maybe I should start off with the fact that I am so far behind right now that my head is spinning. Last week, my son Devin got sick. He was off from school almost all last week, hence the reason why there was no comment contest draw done. He is feeling better and I should get the draw completed tomorrow for the weekly winner number 2.
I would of had the draw done over the weekend but there was no point in doing it. My server went down. Well, I guess it didn’t really go down per say go down. I exceeded my bandwidth limits for the month. I am currently running a basic 7 dollar a month web hosting package from Bluefur.com (A Canadian Web Hosting firm) that had a bandwidth limit of 50,000mb. I hit that limit on Sunday and all my sites went down. I was in the process of emailing Gary Jones from Bluefur just before this happened so they were able to extend me another 25mb bandwidth hoping that was going to be enough and my sites were only down for a short while.
It as been two days since my bandwidth upgrade and it looks like by Friday I will max out again. Crazy eh! For those of you who might not know, bandwidth measures your entire traffic load on your server (traffic). I was a bit shocked at as none of my sites were receiving PPC traffic so I decided to look around at my stats to see what was going on with my sites and I have found a few of my affiliate sites are just about to pass this blog for traffic, and there only a few months old to top it off.
After a very concerned email I sent to Gary Jones this afternoon asking him what I needed to do, it has been decided that I need to upgrade my account to a dedicated server. I have no idea how this is going to go and if there will be any problems in the process. So if you swing by here and things just don’t look the same, we might be in the process of moving.
One thing I am not sure of is if the rumors are true about dedicated servers or not. I have read that Google and other search engines can tell what kind of server your on and if your website can handle any loads. If they see or feel that you can’t, they won’t send the traffic. If your on a dedicated server, they send you more traffic because you can handle it. If that is true, I could be up for a bumpy ride trying to keep up.
What’s on deck for this week!
Well, just to let you all know, there is going to be two weekly comment contest draws done to get me all caught up with my November Neverblue Ads comment contest.
There will also be a kick ass review on a new Wordpress theme that is going to blow your minds away with what this theme can all do. I know for a fact there is lot of people not making what they should be making because they don’t understand code and how to work with it for building sites. This new theme removes the need to ever need to know any type of code. Your going to love it and you can also have 1000 theme’s in one!
Last but not least, my server upgrade.
Wish me luck!

Man, that’s rough. My kids have been sick this week too and it sucks. Good luck on the server move.
ReplyHi Colin – Must be the change of seasons – mine have all been down with flu – and summer is almost here (sorry mate – you can have your icy winters).
Let me know how your dedicated hosting goes. I am thinking of the same thing myself. It can get a little pricey though.
cheers – les
ReplySo sorry you have had a bad week. Hope your son is all better.
ReplyDon’t worry, things will iron themselves out. Easy said, huh??
Have a nice Thanksgiving, and put your worries away!
Thanks guys, and Les I am sending my winter to you guys.
